Walking along the road this afternoon, I passed a group of young girls heading in the other direction. "Are you Tom's dad?" one of them asked. When I replied to the affirmative, she said, "Cool!" It's odd being considered cool by association with a 9-year-old.

Quite right! you ARE cool. Did you not know??? Not least because you are the official house-husband and wear a cap all the time and - not least! - do such a lot of running.
The only time I was what you would now call "cool", was when - at the end of "Oliver", with you in the main part, the sobbing girls pointed to me and said: "SHE is Jan's mum". Was I proud? of course I was. Well done, therefore! keep it "cool".
